With the inevitability of urban densification, this new development transforms a former parking lot in the heart of the city. The project focuses on renaturing the area – ensuring the surrounding trees were preserved – resulting in a design shaped by the negative spaces between the existing trees. Surrounding balconies feature integrated planting and irrigation, blending architecture with nature. The timber construction allows for slimmer walls, helping maximise the usable living space. Additionally, the material sequesters large amounts of carbon, therefore lowering the carbon footprint of the structure whilst at the same time positively impacting residents’ wellbeing.
